*Title*: Introduction to Secure Application Development Practices
*Summary*: We’ll focus this talk on best practices during code implementation to avoid the most common application vulnerabilities. You know the usual suspects: injection flaws, authentication, sensitive data exposure, and their friends. The topic has filled books and been the subject of college courses. We’ll see if we can put it to bed in an hour or so. Developers who need to know more about security and security folks needing better understanding of code issues are the primary audiences, but there should be something for everyone. Don’t be shy if you’re expert already. The discussion and community will benefit from your input.
*Speaker Bio*: Mel Drews works on application security in financial services, currently focused on vulnerability management and security testing. He’s also covered this issue from the governance side, as an auditor, and external penetration tester, among various roles in security. Currently Mel is preparing to present the SANS DEV522 course this autumn.
